Rupee trims early
gains, still up by 14 paisa vs dollar
The rupee pared its early
gains, but was still higher by 14 paise against the
US dollar at Rs
62.14 in late morning trade today on sustained bouts of
dollar
selling by banks and exporters.
The domestic currency resumed higher
at 62.14 as against yesterday's
close of 62.31 at the Interbank
Foreign Exchange ( Forex) market here.
It further strengthened to Rs
62.05 on good bouts of dollar selling from
banks before quoting at
its opening level of 62.14 at 1100 hours.
The local currency hovered
in a range of 62.17-62.
05 per dollar during late
morning trade.
Euro up against
dollar on Ukraine deal, weak US data
The euro ticked up
against the dollar on Friday on news of a plan to end
Ukraine's
10-month war and hopes that Greece will hammer out a debt
overhaul
with its European creditors and weak US retail sales data.
In Tokyo
the euro bought $1.1427, up from 1.1406 in New York, while the
greenback also was at 118.59 yen from 118.97 yen, and sharply down
from
120.27 yen in Tokyo earlier on Thursday.
The single currency
also fetched 135.46 yen compared with 135.70 yen.
