Share Tips - Futures on OKCoin rallied strongly today. The September 25th contract opened at $300.88 and hit a high of $310.01. It’s currently quoted at $307.66 dollars. This puts the premium over spot at just under $16 dollars. This is relatively high but we’ve seen futures prices diverge strongly during times of high volatility. On July 10th this particular contract hit a high of $356.02 before closing at $305.46. The premium on that day was over $50 dollars at one point. The rupee resumed sharply lower at 62.00 as against last Friday's close of 61.69 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange ( Forex) market here. It further lost ground at Rs 62.12 and was quoting at 62.07 at 1035 hrs. The local currency hovered in a range of 62.12-61.98 per dollar during late morning trade.
 Sterling slips, investors prepare for BoE inflation data
Sterling weakened on Monday as attention shifted to a Bank of England inflation report due later this week, which is expected to support expectations that UK interest rates will stay lower for longer. The pound was also hurt by a widening gap between US 10-year Treasury yields and their British counterparts. The US 10-year yield posted its biggest rise in one-and- a-half years on Friday as robust US jobs data stoked expectations that the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates as early as June. Sterling was down 0.15 per cent at $1.5225, while against the euro it slipped around 0.4 per cent to trade at 74.50 pence per euro. The British currency has suffered in the past few months as investors pushed back expectations of a rate hike, with markets now expecting the first monetary tightening only in early or the middle of 2016.

Rupee trims initial gains against dollar, up 10 paisa
The rupee trimmed its initial gains against the US dollar and was quoted higher by 10 paise to 61.70 in late morning deals on selling of the greenback by banks and exporters. The rupee resumed higher at 61.65 per dollar as against the yesterday's closing level of 61.80 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market and moved up further to 61.63 per on initial dollar selling by banks. However, it trimmed its initial gains on mild dollar demand from some banks and was quoted at 61.70 per dollar at 1110 hours, still showing a gain of ten paise from its last close. The local currency moved in a range of 61.63 and 61.77 per dollar during the late morning trade. 

Sterling trims losses as UK construction growth rebounds
Sterling stayed near an 18-month low on Tuesday, with a stronger-than- expected survey of Britain's construction sector doing little to change the expectation that interest rates will stay near zero until well into 2016. The monthly construction purchasing managers' index (PMI) rose to 59.1 from December's 17-month low of 57.6, topping all forecasts in a Reuters poll and far above the 50 mark that signifies growth. Optimism about the next year increased for the first time in three months, albeit only a little from December's 16-month low, and the numbers also followed a firmer-than-expected survey of the manufacturing sector on Monday. But sterling only managed to slightly trim losses to trade at $1.5018, up from $1.4999 before the release but still down 0.1 percent on the day and close to an 18-month low of $1.4952.

Rupee recovers 12 paise to 61.74 against dollar in early trade
The rupee recovered by 12 paise to 61.74 against the US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on fresh selling of the American currency by exporters. Forex dealers said the dollar's weakness against other currencies overseas and a higher opening in the domestic equity market also supported the rupee. The rupee had lost 45 paise against the dollar yesterday, its worst single-session drop in nearly seven weeks, to end at 61.86 on month-end dollar demand from importers and banks amid speculation that the US Federal Reserve is considering raising interest rates later this year. 

 
Russian rouble dips before central bank meeting
Russia's rouble dipped in early trade on Friday, ahead of a central bank monetary policy meeting at which the bank is expected to leave it key interest rate on hold. At 0720 GMT, the rouble was about 0.4 percent weaker against the dollar at 68.99 and lost 0.6 percent to trade at 78.13 versus the euro. Russia's central bank will announce its decision on its key rate at around 1030 GMT (1330 Moscow time). A Reuters poll predicted the bank would hold the lending rate at 17 percent, even though the economy is likely to contract by 4.2 percent this year.

Rupee down 12 paise against dollar in late morning trade
The rupee fell by 12 paise to 61.53 against the American currency in late morning trade today on month-end dollar demand from importers. The rupee resumed lower at 61.44 as against yesterday's closing level of 61.41 at the Interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) and moved down further to 61.54 before quoting at 61.53 at 1100 hours. The local currency hovered in a range of 61.42 and 61.54 during late morning trade.
 
Russian rouble opens broadly weaker on Thursday
Russia's rouble slid in early trade on Thursday, extending losses from earlier in the week as falling oil prices and the threat of new European Union sanctions over the Ukraine crisis soured sentiment. At 0735 GMT, the rouble was around 0.8 per cent weaker against the dollar at 68.58 and 0.6 percent lower at 77.38 against the euro. Stocks were mixed, with the dollar-based RTS index down 1 per cent to 758 points and the rouble-denominated MICEX.
 
Yuan eases, remains near weaker edge of trading band
China's yuan eased on Thursday following a weaker midpoint, hovering a few points away from the weaker edge of the daily trading limit on expectations of further weakness. The People's Bank of China set the midpoint rate at 6.1335 per dollar prior to the market open, weaker than the previous fix of 6.1282. The spot market opened at 6.2531 per dollar and was changing hands at 6.2487 at midday, 7 pips weaker than the previous close and 1.88 percent away from the midpoint.

Rupee down 10 paise against dollar in early trade
The rupee fell by 10 paise to 61.51 against the dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange market due to appreciation of the US currency overseas. Forex dealers attributed the domestic currency's fall to the dollar's gains against other global currencies and a lower opening in the domestic equity market. The rupee had ended marginally higher by one paisa at 61.41 against the American currency in yesterday's trade amid volatile markets on the back of a higher dollar overseas.

South Korean won falls on rate cut view; shares at 7-week high
The South Korean won was pushed lower along with regional peers on Wednesday after Singapore unexpectedly eased its monetary policy, heightening speculation that the Bank of Korea may be pressured to follow suit with a rate cut of its own. The local currency was quoted at 1,084.5 to the dollar at the conclusion of onshore trade, compared to 1,079.8 seen at the end of Tuesday's session.
 
Russian rouble slides on oil, threat of more sanctions
The Russian rouble weakened on Wednesday, with a retreat in oil prices and a threat of new sanctions on Moscow for its role in the Ukraine crisis promising to weigh on the currency in the near future. At 0738 GMT, the rouble was around 0.5 percent weaker against both the dollar and the euro, trading at 67.15 76.32, respectively. Russian stocks rose, with the dollar-based RTS index trading 2.2 percent higher at 800.4 points and the rouble-based MICEX up 1.7 percent to 1,703.2 points.
